Flexography (often abbreviated to flexo) is a form of printing which utilises a flexible relief printing plate. It is an updated version of letterpress that can be used for printing on almost any type of substrate
including plastic, metallic films, cellophane and paper. It is widely used for printing on the non-porous substrates required for various types of food packaging. Flexography is, without doubt, the most versatile of all the print processes. No other process can print on such a wide range of flexible materials, producing excellent results in all cases. No other process has been able to utilise a variety of machine formats to produce these results.

Within our Print Department we have five flexographic printing presses of various sizes. Our cylinder sizes range from 300mm up to 1200mm, giving finished repeat lengths of 50mm up to 1200mm and we can print up to eight colours. Our print machines are equipped with the latest technology including register control, viscosity control and anti-static equipment, to ensure that our finished product is of the highest quality. We have our own Rexson ink blending system and Quality Control Lab. Within this lab we are fully equipped with the latest colour measurement and control equipment & software with further investment on equipment for all the presses.

Our slitters are suited to take master reels up to 1500mm wide. They are equipped with hot and cold needle perfs and have up to 15 blade holders to enable us to produce up to 14 finished slit reels. They are capable of producing a slit width as narrow as 35mm. We also have an ‘A’ Frame attachment allowing us to fold single wound sheet into centre fold sheet, producing a maximum folded width of 700/1400mm.

Our most recent investment will see the installation of a Gunter punch unit delivering 6mm and 8mm holes suitable for use in the Produce markets.
